Model of Professional Nursing Care

Model of professional nursing care is as a system (structure, process and values) that enables professional nurses organize nursing care including the environment to sustain the provision of nursing care. (Hoffart & Woods, 1996).

Mc. Laughlin, Thomas dean Barterm (1995) identified eight models of nursing care, but the models are common in hospitals are nursing team, and primary nursing. Since any changes will affect the stress, it is necessary to consider the six main elements in determining the selection method of nursing care. (Marquis & Huston, 1998; 143), namely:

1. In accordance with the vision and mission of the institution.
2. Can apply the nursing process in nursing care.
3. Efficient and effective use of cost.
4. Fulfillment of client satisfaction, family and community.
5. Satisfaction of nurses.

Purpose

1. Maintain consistency of nursing care.
2. Reduce conflict, overlap, and empty implementation of nursing care by the nursing team.
3. Create independence in providing nursing care.
4. Provide guidance in determining the policies and decisions.
5. Made it clear the scope and purpose of nursing care for every member of the nursing team.
